Tour attendees will preview the San Xavier Tour during an evening reception, dinner and entertainment. Relax, socialize and enjoy a delightful evening.
Friday, April 29, 22 | 7:30 am – 4:15 pm
Participants will board a bus and drive to the San Xavier Mining Lab where they will observe a livestream of a full-scale rock burst test at the Geobrugg Switzerland test facility. Following the livestream, there will be a presentation followed by a tour of the San Xavier Mine, which is operated by the University of Arizona.
The mine has rehabilitated narrow vein working and a brand new tunnel driven in 2021. Examples of various ground support will be on display. Lunch will be provided. The tour concludes with a bus ride back to the hotel mid-afternoon.
Participants should wear casual clothes suitable for Arizona in April. Closed toe shoes or boots are advisable. Hardhats and safety googles will be provided.
